    Kumon North American seeks a Reading Curriculum Specialist who will supports in creation of new materials. This person will help maintain the integrity of the Reading materials by performing edits and revisions as needed, as well as ensuring that reprints of worksheets and peripheral materials are created without errors. The Reading Curriculum Specialist also helps to ensure proper implementation of the Reading Materials by assisting with the production of training materials and answering questions from staff and Instructors regarding the materials. This person plays a vital role as the worksheets are the backbone and foundation of our company’s business and mission.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Help to improve, maintain and revise Reading materials as needed.
    • Support reprint orders for Reading materials – worksheets and peripherals.
    • Create online learning modules in conjunction with Kumon University.
    • Process agreements (electronic and print) for copyrighted materials in the Reading Materials.
    • Answer staff and instructor queries regarding the Reading Program.
    • Write articles as needed for Kumon publications such as Voices.
    • Commission and coordinate illustration work for Reading Materials as needed.
    • Provide editorial support and instructional review support to other departments as needed (Kumon University, Branding, Kumon Publishing, Kumon Learning Therapy)
    • Provide support for events such as the annual Instructor Conference and other trainings provided by Kumon University.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ or Masters degree in English or related field
    • 1‐2 years of prior work experience; preference given to applicants with some background in education and/or publishing
    • Intermediate level of:
      • Analytical, project/process management;
      • Advanced skills in oral and written communications;
      • Basic level of computer/technical, clerical/administrative skills and equipment operation;
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel Editorial skills highly desired.

    Previous experience writing educational materials for children highly desired.
