    Job Summary: As a member of the Branding Team, the Public Relations Specialist will tell various aspects of the Kumon brand story to internal and external audiences in the Unites States and Canada. The Public Relations Specialist will communicate the core values and benefits of Kumon, the world’s largest after-school enrichment program, to influencers reaching parents with preschool to high school aged children. The Public Relations Specialist will report to the Communications Manager and work closely with this person to implement a results-driven strategic plan aligned with business objectives, utilizing both internal and external channels.


    • Research, identify and develop Kumon story angles and pitch them to the media and social influencers.
    • Draft press releases and advertorials for regional and national distribution.
    • Produce highly engaging, error-free content that adheres to the company’s style guidelines and reflects brand voice.
    • Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications.
    • Conceptualize and develop digital and social media communication content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and the Kumon Blog.
    • Interview Instructors, parents and students for digital content.
    • Develop media talking points and prepare executives for media opportunities
    • Use social media channels, such as Facebook, YouTube, and key blogs to share Kumon’s story and engage with key social media influencers.
    • Collaborate with graphic designers to produce marketing collateral.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, or Marketing with 3-5 years of experience in the industry.
    • Extensive experience writing and editing for print and digital channels.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Comfortable writing compelling headlines, web copy, blog posts, emails, ad copy, etc.
    • Experience with design software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign) and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children.
    • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
    • Willingness to learn new skills necessary to progress in the role and within the team.
    • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
