    Kumon North America seeks an Event Content Specialist to assist in various aspects of Kumon North America conference support. This person plays a vital role in conference learning session content and audio-visual needs. This person also serves as a liaison between the event planning team and various departments/committees including the Instructor Conference Planning Committee (ICPC), Materials Development & Instruction (MDI), Kumon Services North America (KSNA) and outside vendors. The Event Content Specialist must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize, multi-task and problem solve. The individual must be customer service focused and willing to participate in a collaborative team culture. Project management skills are key to this position.


    Conference Content

    • Manage conference presenters: provide PowerPoint templates to presenters, create content deadlines and ensure drafts are submitted by deadlines, collect content for conference website, collect AV/staging needs, format presentations for consistency.
    • Participate in regular ICPC meetings/teleconferences, help set agenda, take and distribute minutes.
    • Develop overall “run-of-show” for conference.
    • Create outline of emcee script and PowerPoint and work with emcees to finalize.
    • Review, upload and test presentations for quality control onsite.
    • Develop rehearsal schedule and manage onsite.
    • Act as stage manager during show onsite.

    Awards Ceremony Management

    • Obtain qualifying recipient lists and confirm with branches/departments.
    • Develop and distribute communication to award recipients.
    • Manage awards ceremony onsite.
    • Coordinate award orders and shipments to award recipients, presenters and staff.

    Conference Audio Visual (AV)

    • Create, submit and contract conference AV needs.
    • Confirm all AV needs with presenters for order.
    • Work with AV company on order and update as needed.
    • Oversee AV setup onsite and manage any additions/changes.
    •  Manage and communicate with conference AV support staff.

    Inspirational Student Stories

    • Lead contest logistics and manage committee.
    • Set up and manage online nomination survey for contest.
    • Develop and execute communications strategy to staff, Instructors and parents.
    • Respond to all email inquiries from staff, Instructors and parents.
    • Participate in and assign nominations for review to committee members.
    • Work with Finance to obtain gift cards for student finalists and process monetary awards for Instructor winners.
    • Handle all finalists related communication to branches, Instructors, and families.
    • Review and gain approval of video production contract.
    • Manage video production company and coordinate onsite staff support for video shoots.
    • Coordinate reviews of video cuts and compile all edits for production company.
    • Coordinate distribution of videos to all Instructors post-conference (downloadable links shared in Instructor newsletter and on iKumon).
    • Coordinate with PR to get videos on Kumon.com and Kumon YouTube Channel.

    Miscellaneous Conference Support

    • Serve on Student Conference Committee.
    • Review applicants.
    • Create finalist communication pieces for field, Instructors, parents.
    • Assist with logistics prior to conference (gathering/printing Instructor letters, printing student certificates).
    • Build Student Conference application website.
    • Wellness Initiatives.
    • Incorporate stretch breaks, wellness challenge, etc. into conferences.
    • Community Service.
    • Work with vendor to plan, execute community service breakout sessions.


    • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, business, communications, marketing or related field required
    • Minimum 5 years of overall experience
    • Ability to travel up to 15%, both domestic and international, and work overtime as needed to attend events and conferences (including weekends).
    • Ability to work at the Kumon Headquarters Office in Teaneck, NJ
    • Excellent organizational/project management skills
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
    • Strong written, oral and non-verbal communication skills
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute serval project simultaneously conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
